Willy Mathot
Willy Mathot began his career in 1985 as a legal advisor in Paris and London in international business law and mergers and acquisitions. Since 2013, he has been a member of the Paris Bar after having been for 22 years Global Legal Director (Corporate General Counsel) in the pharmaceutical industry (Ipsen) which he joined in 1990.
He offers his clients a rare mix of international legal and operational experience and skills recognized in the fields of life sciences and compliance applied to the health sector.
With a strong background in competition law and intellectual property, Willy is a strategic partner with a systemic and analytical approach, always pragmatic. He negotiates with you and drafts contracts and other documents necessary for the successful completion of your corporate, industrial, commercial and litigation operations.
While he was General Counsel of Ipsen, Willy was responsible for setting up an industrial site in China in 1992, several acquisitions of companies in the UK and the USA (including a €400M acquisition in 2008), the IPO on Euronext (€320M in 2005), and won all of the company’s litigation cases, particularly in the USA (€39M) and France (€18M).
Since 2013, Willy has been advising numerous biotech, medtech and innovative companies in the ICT field. He is a recognized player in the French health ecosystem, notably as co-founder of the Life Sciences Leadership Shool and the company Internation Bio Business Services. He is co-author of the book “Business Law Applied to Healthcare” published by LexisNexis in 2018 and is a speaker at numerous conferences and round tables.
